Just look, no touching!

These two sketches represent crossing a line for me.
They represent me actually trying to draw realistically and anatomically correct. Well yes, the result is rather far from realistic, but at least I TRIED and that's what makes them special for me.

There are just SO many ways this eye could have been drawn better. Lots of small details like lacking shading on the eyeball, the masculine eyebrows (misplaced) on a feminine eye, the weirdly shaped eyelid, and loads of other niggles and imperfection. But it IS a good starting point.

Heh, seems I've managed to scan this one with a horizontal flip. ^_^
Not really a bad effort, even though I'm saying so myself. The fingers are a little TOO straight along the edge, the thumb has a weird skinfold where it meets the hand and the wrist seems slightly odd, but these are all minor details.

These were both made with a B2 pencil, by the way. I believe I drew them a few days after buying my first set of quality pencils and some kneadrubber.

Beginning steps

These are some of the oldest sketches that I've scanned. They are made on plain photocopy paper with thick pencils, the kind we give the children at my job (kindergarden) to play with. At this point I had not read anything about anatomy or drawing in general, just watched a few YouTube videos and were fooling around trying out things on my own.

These sketches are mainly inspired by anime and manga, something I've strayed away from later on. Still, I'm pretty pleased with the result considering that this is beginning steps...

Greetings from Dino

What better way to begin a blog about sketches and art than to show off a recent piece of work?
This little dino-thing here was created earlier today during a meeting at my work. The subject was utterly boring and my hand started to drift while my mind struggled with other things. Half an hour later this little charmer was born...

Keep your eyes peeled. I'll post a whole bunch of sketches over the next week or two, and I might just include some random ramblings or more thorough pieces of work inbetween them all.
